Today’s letter is C and it stands for COME CORRECT–take off your sunglasses and put your hat on straight.
Come correct is a slang term and its’ origins began in the world of dating on how to properly approach or woo a woman. See this scene is Scarface when a man isn’t coming correct.
It’ not just about showing respect to a woman, but showing respect to every situation in your life. The only way to do that is to fully be present, understand your role and own up. At work, no matter your role, whether you are leading or a part of a team, you need to come to the day with the understanding of your role and what people are expecting of you and rise up to the occasion. When you do, everything and everyone is inspired. Coming correct will lead you to that #LoveOutLoud moment and put you on a path of living your truths.
If you come correct, you bring integrity and respect to your actions and that creates space for everyone–including you–to invite the best in everyone. In friendship, it’s about coming correct for a friend. Maybe they need you and they are struggling. You are busy and don’t have time, but you know what? That’s what friends are for and you owe it to yourself and your friend to not only show up for them and listen, but ask them, is there anything else I can do?
Everyday Far From Timid will post a LoveLetter–a mantra that inspires you to #LoveOutLoud-to take a risk for someone or something that you love. Hope you have a #LoveOutLoud day
